1 year anniversary

We had our first anniversary on May 19th. It was a very interesting day, kinda like our wedding was! First of all, my cute husband had ordered me flowers to be sent to work before 3 because that's when I was leaving work for our date that night. Well, they never came. He was so disappointed about it because that was part of my gift. So he called the flower place and they didn't even apologize about it. They just offered to refund my money and basically said that there was a miscommunication. I ended up emailing them the next day and just explained how we were treated and how they should have at least compensated us for what had happened. So they sent me flowers the next day and the owners daughter called and apologized about the whole situation. Part of the gift I had gotten for Sam was supposed to arrive on that day, and it never came either. So we drove down to Portland and went to the Cheesecake factory, because we went there on the first day of our honeymoon. When we got there, I started feeling really sick, I have been battling this cold thing since Mother's day, and I couldn't eat my meal. It was so frustrating, nothing was going right on our anniversary! I felt so bad about not feeling good but we had decided to go shopping anyway. We went shopping and had a blast. Sam and I haven't had a chance to do that in awhile so we decided we would do it that night. So all in all, the day was pretty chaotic but we really enjoyed just spending that night together and remembering our marriage 1 year ago. This first year has been full of memories that we'll always remember. It has been the best year of our lives and we can't wait for many more!

New job for me and Sam's surgery

Well, we have had quite an interesting month of May. I started a new job at a resturaunt called J. James. It's been an awesome job for me to get. I have been able to work part time around my other full time job and make pretty good money for the amount of hours I put in. And everyone that I work with is awesome too!

Sam had surgery on his foot on May 15. His turf toe was just getting worse so the trainer and the orthopedic surgeon decided it would be best if they just did it now. Since he's in the post season. He is doing really well, recovery has seemed to be pretty easy for him. The surgery was called a chilectomy, which basically just means they shave off the large toe bone to remove the excess cartilage/bone that had formed from the chronic hyperextension of his toe. So he started walking on his foot the next day. He's doing really well. His toe seems to be doing really well. I forget sometimes that he even had the surgery done. But I think it will be a success, especially by the time next basketball season rolls around!

Lincoln City with the Kelly family

Scott came to Portland for a work meeting and we all decided to go to Mo's and Lincoln City on April 11. It was so much fun! Sam and I hadn't been to the beach since we moved here in August. So this was a real treat for us. We went to Mo's for their chowder, which I have never been, and I grew up in Oregon! (I know..) It was a fun experience, Scott insisted that we go there. And then we just walked along the beach. It was actually a beautiful friday night on the Oregon coast. A little cold, but that's to be expected, right? Here are some pictures from our fun adventure with Tom, Tracy, Scott, Justin( Scott's friend from work) Sam, and me!

Easter and spring break in Utah!

So much has happened in the past 2 months. So here it is in a
blog. Before Easter, I told Sam we had to color Easter eggs because we haven't
had the chance to do many of those holiday traditions. So here are some pics of
our fun time coloring the eggs. Sam actually enjoyed himself, and being the
competitive person he is, he said his were the best.

We went to Utah for spring break. We had a blast spending time with our family and friends. We were able to spend a lot of time with Scott and Michelle. We had Easter at their house and Austin and Kathryn came down from Provo. We had an Easter egg hunt with Reagan and Scott. It was nice of Michelle to hide the eggs.

It was a blast spending so much time with Scott and Michelle. It was fun staying there and being able to hang out. We are so grateful for our family!

Hello everyone

So this blog thing seems to be too much for us to handle. But we will try to get better. There are just so many things going on right now, with work, school and Sam's basketball, we hardly ever get a chance to do much else. But we are enjoying Oregon, especially when the weather is as beautiful as it is now. I love this time of the year, the sun is starting to come out, the weather is warming and spring and summer is just around the corner. It's crazy to think that we have been living her for 5 months now and married for almost 9. Time just flies.
So our life right now consists of us both going throughout our days and getting a few hours together at night. Sam's basketball season is nearing an end, bitter sweet feelings I guess. But we are excited to have more time to spend together. Here are just a few photos of the events that have been occurring in our lives. 1st is a picture of Sam and I at his game. Sorry its a little blurry, we will try to get another when Sam wins his next game.( That is the only time he will come and take one!) The next ones are of Sam playing ball. And here's one of Sam and I at the Nike campus. If they had apartments available there we would be living there!

We're back again!

So, we're really bad at this whole blog thing. I can't believe it's been 4 months. Oh my, but anyway we will try to be better. I guess our lives are just moving so fast. Things are going really well here in Oregon. We are both so busy and hardly get any time together. Sam is busy with his tough class load, and basketball. He is really enjoying himself though. He finally gets a taste of the upper level chem and bio classes, which I've been struggling through. It's good for him though. Basketball is going well. They just kicked off their pre-season on Halloween night at University of Portland. They won, it was such an exciting game. His toe is still hurt and really were just hoping that these orthodics his poditrist put him in on Saturday will begin to reduce the swelling. I think it will take a bit before we can tell if it is healing but the goal with those is to take the pressure off his toe and that way the inflamation will go down and the toe will heal. I guess we can only hope for the best.
As for me, I'm working hard and going to school as well. I'm currently working at Salem Gastroenterology. It's been great. Sam's old bishop got me the job here as a medical assistant. I am really enjoying myself. I'm only taking one class, my class class so that I can start to apply to nursing school. And I'm going through that process right now. It's crazy that the time has finally come. It's very difficult to get in here, much more difficult than in Utah. But we'll just keep our hopes up and hopefully I will get in.
Well, I think that sums up the last little while. Sorry, no fun pictures, but we just don't take very many. We will get better at that!
